FAQs

What is the difference between Lost Crows & Fallen Stars and the 1st edition, Lady of the Colum?

Lady of the Colum was my debut novel in 2022. I grew a lot as an author in the two years following and wanted to have a second go at writing the series. Whereas LOTC is a short duology, Lost Crows & Fallen Stars is a fleshed out trilogy that dives more into character motivation, back stories, and world buildling. The plots are generally the same but some characters, like Anali Matsumoto, have gone through complete revamps. The second book(s) in particular have a completely different plot direction but some scenes in both editions overlap. LOTC is 72,000 words wheras LCAFS is 90,000 words. Mistress of the Imnicus has been split into two books and was originally 77,000 words and is significantly improved in the new editions.

When I wrote LOTC, I was more in my “smut” era with fast-paced writing and prioritizing romance. Now, I am under the belief that spice scenes need to “earned” and that if a character and relatonship is properly fleshed out, you don’t have to be as explicit to get the same reaction out of the reader. So though the spice level has dropped a chili pepper, the reader will feel more from it.

How many words do you write a day?

I consider myself a “part-time” author, so I don’t write everyday, but the days I do write it’s between 500-2000. On really good days, I have been known to write up to 8,000.

Will you write any spin-offs of Lady of the Colum?

Yes I have two prequels planned. One duology and one trilogy. The duology will follow Balistar Arris and will be cowritten with another author since it’s not really a romance heavy. The trilogy somewhat overlaps with the duology timeline-wise and has a FMC with a very tortured backstory. It follows the crime organizations of Lavenai shortly before the takeover.

Who are your favorite authors?

Marie Lu, Penelope Douglas, Calia Read, and Stephanie Garber.
